So, it's been a while. There has been nothing to report until now. We are finally settled into our new home and ready to start moving forward with our adoption. We will be adopting two children, most likely boys, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The DRC is the poorest country in the world. It is believed to be the most unsafe country in world for women and the third most unsafe country for children. I don't want to post too much, but if you do a little research, it will break your heart.
A lot has changed since we started our adoption journey. We have moved from Iowa to Kentucky, from a temporary house on campus to a permanent house out in the country. DeWayne began a new job, in a new field making LOTS less money. The kids started a new school that is quite expensive. I started a job as the Children's Director at our church. Needless to say, we have had lots of adjustments over the last several months. God has made it evident that this is His plan for us, and we have to trust that he will provide.
A year ago our adoption would have been easy for us to fund, but now that is a very different story. Where we were once strongly opposed to fund-raising for adoption, God has humbled us and told us that we can't do it alone. So here we are, ready to move forward and bring our children home, but not knowing quite how that is going to happen, trusting that God will provide. We are praying about what God would have us to do. As we learn this, we will let you all know. In the meantime please join with us in praying that God makes himself known in our adoption and that all glory is given to Him!
